Behind the Scenes With Dawn Cerino of New Dawn Doula
Dawn Cerino is a mother of three adult daughters and the owner of New Dawn Doula Services. After assisting with the birth of her niece years ago, Dawn made the transition from stay-at-home-mom to her next calling as a doula. Her passion was fueled partly by the realization of how much she could have benefited from having a doula during her own pregnancies.
As an empty nester, she now devotes her time to helping other women during pregnancy, labor, and beyond. She incorporates what she calls the "3 C's" - caring, compassionate, and Christian - into everything she does.
Through her work, Dawn provides emotional, physical, and mental support to expectant mothers and their partners. She works with each woman or couple to develop a personalized birth plan and offers a comprehensive doula package that includes:
-Two prenatal visits
-Access to pregnancy resources
-Breastfeeding support
-One postpartum visit
-Unlimited phone and email support

Dawn uses a number of techniques with her clients, including "shaking the apples," and hip squeezes (see below). These exercises help expectant mothers relax and ensure the baby is positioned the best way for birth. Using these methods has been so relaxing that some moms have fallen asleep between contractions!
