Behind the Scenes - Down With Sam

I've been following sweet Sam (Down With Sam), a "homie with an extra chromie," on Instagram for a long time. As someone who has always had a heart for special needs children, and as a new ambassador for Save Down Syndrome, I wanted to meet Sam and his parents in person.

Sam is a two year-old with Trisomy 21, which is the most common type of Down Syndrome. And while his genetic condition is seen by many as a hindrance, his infectious smile and piercing blue eyes are proof that life is beautiful in every form.  Sam is just like other children in many ways; he loves reading books, watching sports and singing the "Baby Shark" song, hand gestures and all. There are so many misconceptions about Down Syndrome and I wanted to bring more awareness to the condition. Sitting down with Sam's parents, Stacey and Thomas, I was able to learn more about Down's Syndrome and they confirmed something I've always believed - there's nothing down about it!

In the videos below, Stacey and Thomas talk more about life with Sam, what they have learned about parenting a child with Down Syndrome, and what they want other parents to know. They also share some of Sam's favorite things, like the ocean, snuggles and bananas. If you're in the mood to smile, Sam is definitely going to turn your frown UPside DOWN.
