Behind The Scenes With Black Box Ice Cream Truck

​​When Holly Hallmark Fisher and Alex Fisher decided to start their own ice cream truck, they wanted a name that supported their vision. The winning moniker was Black Box Ice Cream Truck. The Black Box name was born of the coming together of nostalgia and international inspiration. Of mystery and excitement. Of adventure and imagination. The name reflects an ambiguity that allows people to determine its meaning for themselves. So really, Black Box is whatever you want it to be.

Prior to starting Black Box Ice Cream, Alex was employed by a different company, running its ice cream truck operation. This prepared him for life as a food truck owner and helped make his and Holly's dream a reality. ​His knowledge and experience in the ice cream industry allowed the duo to find success as they launched the business during the coronavirus pandemic, when they were also expecting their first child.

The husband and wife team don't want Black Box to be known as just another ice cream truck. Their goal is to build a customer base of "regulars," who visit the truck with enthusiasm for the new flavors created. Because Black Box is not your ordinary ice cream truck, the flavors aren't ordinary either. Many of the flavors are inspired by the tastes of other cultures and range from traditional favorites like vanilla and chocolate to more unique ones like massaman curry and banana pudding (which is ahhhmazing). They even make a wasabi flavor for those brave enough to try it.

Black Box Ice Cream Truck travels to various locations around the greater Nashville, Franklin, and Murfreesboro areas. You can find the schedule here. When you visit the truck, be sure to ask about the "secret menu."
