Behind the Scenes With Anne Buckle
Fiddle player Anne Buckle has music running through her veins. Originally from Peachtree City, Georgia, Anne grew up in a musical family; she is a cousin of the late June Carter Cash and spent many summers in the mountains learning to play music with cousin-in-law Johnny Cash and other Carter family relatives.
Anne recorded her first album of fiddle tunes at the tender age of 15 and her desire to travel the world took her to The Sorbonne in Paris, France a few years later, during college. She has since been to 17 different countries and earned a Master's degree in Arts Advocacy from Harvard University.

Many of the songs Anne has written were highly influenced by both her Appalachian musical heritage and her experiences traveling the world. In fact, she recently rebranded herself under the stage name WILDWOOD, which pays homage to her roots and Americana sound. While she does incorporate elements of country music into her songs under WILDWOOD, they also have a very melancholy vibe. Anne's sound under her new moniker has evolved into a more indie-pop genre that utilizes darker production techniques.
In addition to growing into her newfound identity as WILDWOOD, Anne has launched a fun songwriting experience in Nashville called Melodies & Mimosas. It allows people to go into the South x Sea recording studio (which is owned by Anne and her husband) and write a song with Anne like a professional songwriter. The experience is geared toward tourists like bachelorette parties or other groups of people, but is open to anyone who is interested. Along with writing the song in Anne's East Nashville studio, visitors enjoy mimosas or mocktails.

Anne has definitely made a name for herself in the music industry, but she's also passionate about giving refugee teens in Nashville a way to share their stories through music. She started her nonprofit, 3 Chords, with this very goal in mind. After learning more about the global refugee crisis at a conference in Utah, Anne was inspired to find a way to give back to refugees in Nashville. Her love of language and cultural diversity led her to bring more attention to the issues facing young refugees from around the world and the way music helps them find more purpose in life.
